Hello and Happy New Year! I’m pleased to announce some changes to the Tuesday class to make it more accessible for beginners for the New Year. Classes will be 90 minutes (not 2 hours), cost £12 (not £15), and students will learn a basic Tai Chi form that you can read more about below. Classes will still be taught in the traditional Wudang style, by me and my most experienced students. We will also be at a new venue in Clapton, just down the road from our old Stoke Newington location, from January 14th.
The new form for Tuesdays is known as 13 Principle Wudang Tai Chi. It consists of basic repeated movements which teach beginners how to move body and mind according to Tai Chi principles, and helps experienced students find their power pathways (jindao 劲道) – grooves which internal power likes to run through.
Tai Chi and Kung Fu on Thursdays starts on January 16th and is for all those who like to work out and chill out in the centre of London. Meanwhile the first weekend workshop takes place in the Turbine Room at Walthamstow Wetlands on Saturday 18th January. You can buy tickets for this Beginners Tai Chi workshop here.
Looking forward, I am considering running a beginners level Tai Chi retreat in the countryside of South East England one weekend over the summer 2020. If this is of interest to you, check out the retreats page to see how we do things, and get in touch if you like what you see. Meanwhile, I am running an intermediate level Wudang Sword workshop over Easter in Wudang Shan, China with Master Yuan Li Min. Expect us to come back swashbuckling like pirates!
Coming back to the here and now, all classes start from 14th January onwards, so if you are looking to get your New Year off to a good start come train with us at some point during the week. All classes are suitable for beginners, and we would love to see you! Wishing you a successful start to the year, Lucia x
